Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef (the leaner the better)
  • 1/2 onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 15 oz can green beans, drained
  • 10.75 oz can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups frozen tater tots
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F. Grease an 8 or 9-inch baking dish lightly with cooking spray and set it aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until no pink remains. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the diced onions to the beef. Sauté for 4–5 minutes until onions are translucent.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute, stirring frequently.
  5. Season the mixture with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  6. Transfer the ground beef mixture to your prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  7. Layer on the condensed cream of mushroom soup, followed by the drained green beans. Don’t forget to season the beans lightly with salt and pepper!
  8. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the green beans.
  9. Top everything with an even layer of frozen tater tots.
  10. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the tater tots are crispy and golden brown. Serve hot!

Notes

Prep Ahead: Save time by browning the beef and prepping the onion mixture earlier in the day. Make It Your Own: Swap green beans for peas, corn, or a veggie mix for variety. Crunch Matters: Don’t add cheese on top of the tater tots—this keeps them perfectly crisp. Batch Cooking: Double the recipe and freeze one casserole for a future busy weeknight. Quick Cleanup: Line your baking dish with foil to make cleanup a breeze. Storing Leftovers: Casserole keeps well in the fridge for 3–4 days. Reheat single portions in the oven or microwave.
