Ingredients
  

  • 5 lb whole chicken, neck and giblets removed
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 spray cooking spray for coating slow cooker

Method
 

  1. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.
  2. Coat the slow cooker with cooking spray for easy cleanup.
  3. Roll a piece of aluminum foil into a ring and place it in the slow cooker as a rack.
  4. Position the chicken on top of the foil ring and rub the spice mixture all over the bird to season thoroughly.
  5. Cover and cook on HIGH for 3-4 hours, or until the internal temperature (in the thickest thigh part) reads 165°F.
  6. Carefully transfer the chicken to a baking sheet and broil for 4-5 minutes to crisp up the skin.
  7. Serve and enjoy your perfectly cooked, flavorful chicken!
