Ingredients

  • 1 6-pound bone-in turkey breast
  • 1 1-ounce envelope dry onion soup mix

Equipment

  • Slow Cooker
  • Instant-read thermometer
  • Baking sheet

Method

  1. Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture (this helps the soup mix stick).
  2. Trim off any excess skin, leaving the skin intact over the breast for added flavor and moisture.
  3. Rub the onion soup mix generously over the outside of the turkey and lift the skin to rub some seasoning underneath.
  4. Place the turkey breast into the slow cooker, skin-side up.
  5. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour, then reduce the setting to low and cook for an additional 7 hours. Walk away—the slow cooker’s got this!
  6. Check the turkey's doneness by inserting an instant-read thermometer near the bone. It should read 165°F (74°C) when fully cooked.
  7. Optional: For crispy skin, transfer the turkey to a baking sheet and broil for 3-5 minutes under your oven’s broiler.
  8. Let the turkey rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite gravy or pan drippings.

Notes

Tip: If you don’t own a slow cooker yet, look for models with programmable settings for added convenience.
