Ingredients

  • 2 pounds round steak or steak for swissing
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 tablespoons steak seasoning (divided)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 1 can French onion soup
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup

Method

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Combine flour and 1 tablespoon of steak seasoning in a shallow bowl. Dredge the steak in the mixture so each piece is fully coated.
  3. Brown the steak in the hot skillet for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden. Don’t skip this step—it locks in flavor!
  4. Place a quarter of the sliced onions in the bottom of your slow cooker, then layer the browned steaks on top.
  5. Add the remaining onions to the skillet, stirring for 1-2 minutes to absorb the caramelized bits. Place them over the steak in the slow cooker.
  6. Mix together the French onion soup and cream of mushroom soup in a bowl. Pour this luscious mix over everything in the slow cooker.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining tablespoon of steak seasoning over the top.
  8. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours. Walk away and let the magic happen.
