Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef flank steak
  • 1 onion thinly sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Method

  1. Season the flank steak generously with salt and black pepper on both sides.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, beef broth, tomato paste, honey, Worcestershire sauce, coriander, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes.
  3. Place sliced onions and whole garlic cloves on the bottom of your slow cooker.
  4. Lay the seasoned flank steak on top of the onions and garlic.
  5. Pour the prepared sauce over the steak, making sure it’s evenly coated.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours, until the steak is fork-tender.
  7. Carefully remove the steak and let it rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes before slicing against the grain into thin strips.
  8. Serve with creamy mashed potatoes (optional), spooning the sauce over the steak. Sprinkle with fresh parsley.
