Ingredients

  • 4 (6-ounce) salmon fillets Fresh or previously frozen; skin-on or skinless will both work.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Helps lock in moisture and crisp up the edges.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Adds a subtle yet mouthwatering flavor.
  • ½ teaspoon paprika For a touch of smoky sweetness.
  • ½ teaspoon salt Enhances all the natural flavors of the fish.
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper Just the right amount of heat.
  • Lemon wedges Squeeze on some brightness right before serving.
  • Tartar sauce Optional, but a great creamy accompaniment.

Equipment

  • Air fryer

Method

  1. Preheat your air fryer. Set it to 400°F. This ensures your salmon starts cooking immediately for that perfect sear on the outside.
  2. Season the salmon. Rub each fillet with olive oil, then sprinkle generously with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Make sure each piece is coated evenly.
  3. Cook the salmon. Place the fillets in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry for 7–9 minutes, depending on the thickness of your fillets. Thicker cuts may need closer to 9 minutes, while thinner ones are perfect at 7 minutes. Avoid overcrowding the basket to ensure even cooking.
  4. Check for doneness. Open the air fryer basket and use a fork to check if the salmon flakes easily. If needed, return it to the air fryer for another 1–2 minutes. Remember, cooking times can vary slightly between air fryer brands.

Notes

For perfectly even cooking, let your salmon fillets sit at room temperature for 15 minutes before air frying. Want to experiment? Add a pinch of cayenne for heat or use smoked paprika for a richer, bolder flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer for 2–3 minutes so the salmon stays juicy.
