Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup onion, diced
  • 3 cups marinara (24-ounce jar)
  • 2 1/2 cups low sodium chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley
  • 8 ounces spaghetti, broken in half

Equipment

  • Large Dutch Oven or Pot
  • Wooden spoon
  • Measuring Cups & Spoons

Method

  1. Heat a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
  2. Brown the ground turkey, seasoning with salt and pepper. Stir and break it up as it cooks, about 7 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and onion to the pot, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the marinara sauce, chicken broth, balsamic vinegar, Italian seasoning, and parsley. Stir to combine.
  5. Break the spaghetti in half and layer it into the pot in small handfuls, alternating directions to prevent clumping. Push the pasta into the liquid without stirring.
  6. Bring the mixture to a boil, then cover and reduce heat to a simmer. Cook for 13–15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes to avoid sticking.
  7. Once the pasta is tender, turn off the heat and let it sit for 2–3 minutes to absorb the sauce.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with parsley or grated cheese. Enjoy!

Notes

Tip: You can swap ground turkey for ground chicken or even plant-based crumbles for a vegetarian twist.
