Ingredients

  • 10.75 ounce can cream of chicken soup (low/no sodium if preferred)
  • 10.5 ounce can French onion soup (low/no sodium if preferred)
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 cubed beef steaks
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons cold water

Equipment

  • Slow Cooker
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk

Method

  1. In the bottom of your 6-quart slow cooker, stir together cream of chicken soup, French onion soup, au jus gravy mix, and 1/2 cup water.
  2. Add the cubed steaks to the mixture, ensuring they are well-coated in the gravy base.
  3. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low heat for 6-8 hours. This hands-off time is perfect for getting other stuff done!
  4. Once cooked, whisk together 3 tablespoons of cornstarch and 3 tablespoons of cold water in a small bowl.
  5. Pour the cornstarch mixture into the slow cooker, stirring gently to incorporate. If needed, temporarily remove the steaks to mix seamlessly, and return them afterward.
  6. Turn the crockpot to high and cook for another 30 minutes until the gravy thickens.
  7. Serve the cubed steaks smothered in gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles for ultimate comfort food.
