Method
- Preheat your air fryer. Set it to 380°F while you prep your potatoes. Preheating ensures even results from the start.
- Slice the potatoes. Cut your potatoes into even 1/4-inch sticks. Soak them in cold water for 15–30 minutes to remove excess starch—this step helps achieve that extra crunch!
- Dry and season. After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them completely dry with a clean towel. Toss them in a bowl with olive oil and salt to coat evenly. Add optional seasonings here if desired.
- Air fry in batches. Arrange the fries in a single layer in your air fryer basket so they don’t overlap. Cook for 12–15 minutes, flipping halfway through. Keep an eye on them after 12 minutes, as different air fryer models may cook faster or slower.
- Reheat and crisp. Once all batches are done, toss all fries back into the air fryer for another 1–2 minutes to reheat and crisp up together.
- Serve and enjoy. Sprinkle with extra salt or herbs and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces!
Notes
Don’t skip soaking the potatoes! This key step removes starch, ensuring that perfect crispy-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside texture. For added flavor, try sprinkling seasonings like garlic powder, smoked paprika, or Parmesan cheese halfway through cooking. Want thicker wedges? Adjust the slicing size and cooking time accordingly!
