Ingredients

  • 12 pieces Chicken tenders I use pre-trimmed tenders to save time—about 12 pieces or 1 1/4 lbs does the trick.
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs This duo creates the ultimate crunch. Use seasoned varieties for maximum flavor!
  • 1/2 cup Panko This duo creates the ultimate crunch. Use seasoned varieties for maximum flavor!
  • 2 large Eggs These act as your binder, helping the breadcrumbs stick to the chicken.
  • Kosher salt Keep it simple, but you can add paprika or garlic powder for extra flavor.
  • Black pepper Keep it simple, but you can add paprika or garlic powder for extra flavor.

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Oil sprayer
  • Mixing bowls

Method

  1. Prep your chicken: Pat the chicken tenders dry with paper towels and season with kosher salt and black pepper.
  2. Set up your breading station: In one shallow bowl, beat two large eggs. In another shallow bowl, mix 1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs with 1/2 cup seasoned panko.
  3. Coat the chicken: Dip each tender into the egg, allowing any excess to drip off. Then coat it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Shake off the excess and repeat for all tenders.
  4. Oil and preheat: Lightly spray both sides of the breaded tenders with olive oil spray. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F for 3 minutes.
  5. Cook the chicken: Arrange the tenders in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Cook in batches at 400°F for 5–6 minutes on each side, flipping halfway through, until crispy and golden.
  6. Serve and enjoy: Transfer the hot tenders to a plate and serve with lemon wedges for a refreshing twist.

Notes

Pro tip: If you’re gluten-free, swap in gluten-free breadcrumbs and panko—they work just as well!
