Ingredients

  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts Fresh is best, but if you're in a pinch, frozen sprouts will work—just cook them a bit longer.
  • 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze or reduced balsamic vinegar
  • Drizzle of pomegranate molasses
  • 2 teaspoons pure maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Mixing bowl
  • Sharp knife

Method

  1. Trim the ends off the Brussels sprouts and remove any browned outer leaves. Halve them lengthwise. For large sprouts, quarter them to ensure even cooking.
  2. (Optional step for tender centers) Soak the halved sprouts in warm water for 10 minutes, then drain and pat dry.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F. For most models, this takes about 3 minutes.
  4. In a mixing bowl, toss the sprouts with olive oil, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  5. Add the seasoned sprouts to the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  6. Cook for 5 minutes, then shake the basket to ensure even crisping.
  7. Cook for another 5 minutes, then add the garlic. Shake the basket again to distribute the garlic.
  8. Cook for an additional 2-4 minutes, checking frequently, until the sprouts are golden and crisp.
  9. Transfer to a serving bowl and finish with balsamic glaze, pomegranate molasses, maple syrup, and Parmesan cheese, if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Don’t overcrowd the basket—work in batches if needed for ultra-crispy results. Use fresh Brussels sprouts for the best flavor and texture.
