Course: Appetizer
Cuisine: Mexican

Ingredients

  • 5 medium jalapeños, fresh
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 2 tbsp green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Sharp knife
  • Spoon
  • Mixing bowls

Method

  1. Prep the jalapeños: Carefully slice each jalapeño in half lengthwise. Use gloves or wash your hands immediately after handling to avoid the spice transferring. Scoop out seeds and membranes with a small spoon to hollow them out.
  2. Mix the filling: In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, shredded cheddar, green onions, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.
  3. Stuff the peppers: Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the cheese mixture into each jalapeño half. Don't overfill, as this will cause the cheese to bubble over during cooking.
  4. Prepare the topping: In another small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with melted butter until evenly coated.
  5. Bread and air fry: Gently press the cheese-filled side of each jalapeño into the breadcrumb mixture to coat. Arrange the peppers in a single layer inside your preheated air fryer basket, cheese side up. Cook at 375°F for 5–8 minutes, checking for golden-brown breadcrumbs and bubbly cheese.

Notes

Pro Tip: If you're new to air fryers, make sure to preheat it for a couple of minutes for the crispiest results!
